FIESTA'S

Fiesta Time in the Altiplano – Fun, Colour & Non‑Stop Celebrations

If you love lively streets, music, dancing, and a whole lot of local flavour, fiesta season in the Altiplano de Granada is pure magic. Every village around Los Carriones has its own traditions — and in summer, it feels like there’s a celebration happening every week.

Just 10 minutes away, Benamaurel’s Moros y Cristianos explodes into life on the last weekend of April. It’s a huge 4–5 day fiesta packed with costumes, parades, mock battles, fireworks, and late‑night partying.

In Baza, things get wild with Cascamorras, when crowds covered in black paint race down the mountain into the town — messy, chaotic, and unforgettable.

Galera brings the fun with its famous wine fiestas, while Castilléjar hosts a brilliant five‑day summer fiesta full of music, food, and village traditions. And in August, almost every town nearby throws its own celebration, so you’re never far from a band, a parade, or a street party.

Even tiny Los Carriones joins in with its own special fiesta, starting with a colourful parade carrying the Virgin through the village — a beautiful moment that brings everyone together.

Fiesta season here is loud, joyful, and full of heart — the perfect way for visitors to experience real Andalusian culture.
